Over the last couple of years, I have experimented a little with game capture cards. What are those? It's the best way to #stream from your console/tv to your PC. I've been using them to stream my retro gaming (I have not done much of that yet on iPixelDot but it's coming!) onto my PC and then onto YouTube or Twitch. There's a few companies that are well known for it. The main three are Elegato, Roxio, and Hauppage. I've only had the privilege to play around with all three in some form or other. For the record though, I cannot say much for Hauppage except that you should NEVER lose your disc to their capture cards, otherwise you will have to pay them for their software as it's not free to download. I had an internal card but when I got this second hand PC, I never got the disc and so I have no idea if it works and how well it works. Bummer. I had my Roxio Game Capture HD Pro for about a year. Not going to lie- I absolutely hated it. I played around with it on both my PC and Mac. It was hard to get it to function correctly. The software is not free and there is no way to buy or replace it unless you registered the device. If you want customer service, it also costs you. The forums are not too bad for trouble shooting though but it doesn't help the company's relationship with customers. Needless to say, once I got a chance to get rid of it to get a different one, I took it! I just got the Elegato Game Capture HD not too long. Was super easy to use! Software was free and easy to install (what a change compared to the other two) and it was easy to use once installed. Once I start using it for #livestreaming, I will be able to give you more info about it and an even better review. So far, this one is by far my favorite!
